THE search is on for the first Miss Northern Marianas Asia Pacific, who will be selected in a pageant with the theme “Empowering Women, Celebrating Identity.”

Joann Aquino, the founding vice president and treasurer of the Miss Northern Marianas Asia Pacific Organization, said on Friday that the Miss Northern Marianas Asia-Pacific pageant “is here to uplift and empower women from Saipan, Rota, and Tinian. This isn’t just a pageant — it’s a celebration of strength, culture, and unapologetic authenticity.”

 She asks those interested, “Are you ready to be part of something extraordinary?”

In a statement to Variety, Aquino said they want to redefine beauty by embracing individuality, passion, and courage.

“It’s all about sharing your story, standing up for what matters, and inspiring positive change. From preserving culture and promoting ocean conservation to championing sustainability, this is YOUR stage to shine! Unlike traditional pageants, we celebrate the beautiful, unfiltered reality of each woman’s journey — no matter your background, body type, or life path,” Aquino said.

“Why should you join Miss Northern Marianas Asia Pacific?” she asked.

“If you’ve ever felt unsure of your place or that your voice wasn’t enough, this is your moment to reclaim your power. Whether you’re a mother, a young woman, or someone finding their voice, this platform gives you the freedom to be unapologetically you. It’s your chance to show the world that true beauty comes from within and to inspire others by standing up for what you believe in,” Aquino said.

The founding president of Miss Northern Marianas Asia Pacific Organization is Bench Legaspi; the vice president and treasurer is Aquino; the secretary is Zowie Cruz; the marketing and communications director is Eloise Lopez; and the finance director is Sheryll Sebino.

They urge others who want to make an impact on the community to “join the movement, break barriers, and let your light shine.”
