Antigua and Barbuda celebrates dual Miss Caribbean US pageant success

From a teenager finding her voice to a determined young woman breaking barriers, Antigua and Barbuda’s stars aligned at the Miss Caribbean US Pageant 2025 in Philadelphia.

In a night that celebrated Caribbean culture, 17-year-old Cadyn Farrell claimed the Teen crown while Dejah Lucas, 24, secured first runner-up in the adult category.

Reflecting on her triumph, Teen winner Farrell shared her emotional response with Observer: “Winning Miss Caribbean US Teen was an unforgettable experience. Standing on that stage, proudly representing my Caribbean heritage with grace and confidence, was truly a dream come true.”

She emphasized the deeper significance of her victory, noting: “This title is more than just a crown — it is an opportunity to inspire other young Caribbean girls to embrace their roots and shine unapologetically.”

Farrell extended gratitude to her support network, stating: “I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Francine Joseph from Antigua Tourism for always welcoming me during my visits to the island, as well as the ABAP organization along with MCUSBP organization for providing this incredible opportunity.”

She specifically acknowledged her performance supporters, adding, “a special thanks to Lyve Energy for assisting with my talent, my parents for their unwavering support, and most importantly, my dedicated support team—Showtime Mas Band and Cignature Mas Band in Philadelphia.”

In the adult category, first runner-up Lucas shared her powerful journey with Observer: “Competing in this pageant took so much from me mentally, emotionally, and physically. Growing up, I was always a reserved child, never the one to make friends easily or speak in public. Stepping onto this stage was completely out of my comfort zone.”

Lucas expressed pride in her achievement, saying: “For this to be my first adult pageant, I am immensely proud of myself for how far I’ve come.” She also highlighted the bonds formed during the competition. “To my fellow contestants, you are all phenomenal, and the sisterhood we’ve built throughout this experience is something I will always cherish.

“This is not the end of my pageant journey. I plan to compete again next year, stronger, more confident, and even more ready to claim that title,” Lucas declared.

She emphasized her broader mission, stating: “Beyond the crown, this pageant is not the end of my advocacy. My purpose has never been just about a title — it’s about impact.”

Both Farrell and Lucas, who share Antiguan parentage, placed in their respective categories, with Trinidad and Tobago’s Chyanne Metelus taking second place in the teen division alongside Farrell’s win.

The winner of the adult category was Jacqueline Means of Puerto Rico.
