From pageants to runways: Princess Fortunate Nkambule’s journey to self-love and success
Kwa-Thema – Princess Fortunate Nkambule has been crowned Miss Best High School Uniform Wearer.
“I started competing in pageants in 2024 when I joined Miss Duduza 2024/25, wher I was crowned queen.
“I joined pageantry because I wanted to speak up and raise awareness about the importance of self-love and confidence, and to stand against body shaming – something I have faced and that many girls still face,” explained Nkambule after she was crowned.
The event took place on July 21at Kwa-Thema Hall.
“I enjoy pageants because they’ve helped me gain the confidence I have today, and they’re a space where I feel truly alive.
“My short-term goal is to work hard and pass matric well. My long-term goal is to become a professional model, specialising in runway fashion, and to see myself collaborating with major brands, including Miss South Africa.”
“Besides pageants, I enjoy runway modelling and hairstyling,” she added.
The event organiser, Lifa Ntuli of Black Fusion Modelling Agency, said the goal was to inspire learners to take pride in their school uniforms.
“We want to reduce crime and teen pregnancy and provide young people with positive alternatives to being on the streets.
“We teach them teamwork, the importance of resilience, and how to embrace the challenges they face,” he said.
