Personal Stories of Women in Pageantry

Women with disabilities shine at Miss RemarkAble Pageant | La Crosse

LA CROSSE (WKBT) — Women with disabilities from across the Coulee Region took center stage at the annual Miss RemarkAble Pageant, held at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Student Union.

The event featured workshops, interviews, and makeovers, all aimed at building confidence and life skills for participants.

Each contestant received a gown, crown, and sash, celebrating their unique achievements and personal stories.

“It’s hard sometimes for people with disabilities to find their place in things, and anything that we can do that gives them a sense of belonging, a sense of being in the spotlight and telling people about who they are—it makes us understand that we are all more alike than we are different,” said Jenny Felty, president of Aptiv.

The pageant also serves as a fundraiser for the Aptiv Foundation, supporting programs and adaptive equipment for people with disabilities in the community.
